Rememeber that this tutorial is for you to learn something, and not for you to copy my style, my ideas, and the exact icon [with maybe a little alteration]. You may not distribute this tutorial or use it any way; you may only learn how to use different tools on Photoshop from this tutorial.Warning: For you to be able to go from the 1st image
to the 2nd image, you must have good knowledge of Photoshop tools before you can do this--there will not be any extra images for understanding. Remember to refer to the image if you have any trouble understanding the tutorial.Step 1-Open the icon base (the original beach image). Get it here. And make sure it is called Layer 1 instead of Background. You can do this by Ctrl+C and then Ctrl+V--otherwords, copy and then past it to a new file.
Step 2-Now that the icon base is called Layer 1, to make the icon much brighter, duplicate the image. (Paste it again or however you'd like to duplicate it) Then set the blending options to Screen (This is beside the Opacity levels in the Layer box). Then, change the Opacity of the Layer 2 to 68%.
Step 3-Create Layer 3 and press the Gradient button. Then choose a turquoise-aquamarine gradient by dragging your mouse from left to right. Get the gradient here--make sure you download the art gradients.
Step 4-For Layer 4, create a white rectangle on the fishing net/arm chair area. Then set this layer to Saturation for the blending options. Also, set the Opacity to 93%.
Step 5-Make a text and type in "fresh" with a space in between each word. The font is [regular] Verdana, size 10pt, smooth and white colour, right in between the saturated rectangle and the blue sky.
Step 6-Zoom in 1600% into the "fresh" word. Then use the Rectangular Marquee tool and select around a 50px width and a 1px height right on the word, fresh. Then select the Paint Bucket tool and make sure your colour is black.
Step 7-Since you will be changing the text, "fresh", into an image, click yes after you attempt to paint the edges of the text black, to rasterize the text into an image. Then, paint everything in your selected marquee rectangle into black except for the white text, "fresh".
Step 8-Click on the Type tool again to create the texts, "easy breezy" in white Verdana, smooth, size 8pt. The text is a little above the visible clouds and below the umbrella.
Step 9-In Layer 6 (a new layer), use the Rectangle Marquee tool to create a small rectangle ontop of the text, "fr" from the word "fresh". Paint in the marquee rectangled area into faded yellow or mellow yellow. Then feather the rectangle so it's faded. Make sure the first faded radius is 10px, then the second 5px.
Step 10-Adjust any mistakes and fix any errors if needed. Congratulations! You're done!.
This first icon tutorial may be a little difficult. Make sure you understand the tools, functions and concepts of Photoshop before doing this. You may read the other photoshop tutorials about using one-three tools instead of this--a collaboration of tools, functions and styles.
