Colouring III
Ever wonder how all those Livejournal artists can create these gorgeous majestic-but-not-plain-but-not-ugly-fabulous-toned icons?It's all about using Color Balance on Photoshop. Feel free to download Photoshop CS2 for this tutorial, since the lower versions don't have the function, Color Balance.
Before reading this tutorial, make sure you know the fundamentals of Photoshop Tools, otherwise, you won't know where to click on. Refer to the easier Colouring tutorials before reading this one if any trouble.

Step 1. Open your image then duplicate it (Copy & Paste) and set the duplicated image to Soft Light 30%.
Step 2. Click on Layer >> New Adjustment Layer >> Color Balance. Click OK for new layer.
Shadows: -100, -100, -50.
Midtones: -32, -6, -2.
Highlights: +52, 0, +43.
Step 3. Another Color Balance layer [with no shadows this time]:
Midtones: -100, -100, 0.
Highlights: -41, 0, -12.
Step 4. Duplicate the base image twice and set them to 100% Luminosity.
Step 5. Create a new layer and fill it with black (#000000) and set it to Multiply 8%.
